Box office Collection report: Akshay Kumar’s Gold and John Abraham’s Satyameva Jayate get a combined total of Rs 45 crore on Independence Day!


Wednesday – a National Holiday – we had two films clashing at the box office – Akshay Kumar‘s Gold and John Abraham’s Satyameva Jayate. Now, the first-day official figures are out and both the films have done exceedingly well. According to Box Office India, Gold has earned Rs 25.25 crore and Satyameva Jayate has raked in Rs 18.50 crore on its opening day. We got in touch with Trade Expert Akshaye Rathi to know about the Day 2 box office prediction for both the films.

We told you that both Akshay and John will get their highest opening day numbers with their releases this Independence Day. If we estimate what could be the individual numbers of the films, both of them might have earned nearly Rs 20 crore to make that happen. These are tremendous numbers for a clash. Well, reports say that an Independence Day release and then a weekend will definitely ensure that both the films enjoy a great run at the box office. Talking about “Gold”, the Akshay Kumar starrer is tipped to have a bigger opening as compared to the John Abraham starrer. Trade analyst Girish Johar told that “Gold” is expected to gross Rs 20 crore on Day 1 of its release.

In Gold, Akshay Kumar plays the role of a hockey coach named Tapan Das and dreams of winning an Olympic gold medal for free India. While in Satyamev Jayate, John Abraham is a vigilante who hands down severe punishments to corrupt officials in society. The film also stars Manoj Bajpayee and debutant Aisha Sharma.
